HIKING

Chip Stockford Reserve
1 mile away is a great trail for a casual nature walk. The property has a long history of human intervention such as farming, pastures, logging and the mining of granite and sand. Evidence of stonewalls, wells, stone foundations, sand pits are all present along the hike.

John A. Segur Wildlife Refuge
Moderate hiking trail with a view perfect for birdwatching and spotting wildlife with trails fit for cross-country skiing.

Sabattus Mountain
Easy-moderate hiking trail with a beautiful view overlooking the white mountains and the Kezar lakes region located 4 miles down the road!

Heald & Bradley Ponds Reserve
The 802-acre reserve includes over a mile of shoreline on Heald Pond and over half a mile on Bradley Pond. It is a terrain of forests, streams, hills, and wetlands. There are also three scenic vistas and a network of over 9 miles of trails. Fit for more advanced hikers. Located 4 miles away.

Kezar River Reserve
The 114 acre reserve hosts a canoe/kayak launch and a 1.0 mile, relatively flat loop except where it traverses one of five ravines created by headwall erosion. Trail markers include artwork from local elementary school students. Fit for all hikers and family friendly. Located 3 miles away.

White Mountain National Forest- Lord Hill Network
These trails access Pine and Lord Hills which provide interesting views for a moderate effort. The summits can be approached from multiple directions, using various trails that allow for several loop options just 4 miles away.

Five Kezar Ponds Reserve
This 249 acre reserve hosts multiple trails with options for easy trails through diverse habitat suitable for all ages and abilities, and a moderate ascent to one of the most spectacular views in the region.

White Mountain National Forest- Deer Hill Network
This trail offers great views for a relatively small effort. The Deer Hills Trail is steep in places but short and pleasantly wooded, weaving through Hemlock forest. This trail receives moderate use and provides opportunities for solitude. 6 miles away and fit for advanced hikers.

White Mountain National Forest- Speckled Mountain
This trail affords hikers numerous views of water falls and other features of Bickford Brook. The summit of Speckled Mountain consists of open ledges with excellent views. This trail is 8 miles away and fit for moderate to advanced hikers.

White Mountain National Forest- Albany Mountain Trail
Located 10 miles away, this trail leads to the summit of Albany Mountain, a series of rocky openings with panoramic views. It is a popular spot for blueberry picking in the summer and offers great views of colorful foliage in the fall.

Pleasant Mountain Trails
Pleasant Mountain is southern Maine’s tallest mountain at 2,006 feet. The nearly ten mile trail network offers a variety of moderately challenging day hikes. The summits provide commanding views of the White Mountains to the west and spectacular views to the east. Located 10 miles away.

Jockey Cap
Jockey Cap Rock is an enormous glacial erratic deposited in the Saco River valley by long ago glaciers. A short trail leads to the top of the rock, affording expansive views of the river valley, surrounding peaks, and the town of Fryeburg below. 11 miles away.

White Mountain National Forest – Caribou Mountain
The summit of Caribou Mountain is renowned for a spectacular 360 degree view of the Mahoosuc, Carter, and Presidential Mountain Ranges, Cold River Valley, and the Bethel area. Located 12 miles away.

Rattlesnake Pool
Rattlesnake Pool is a 2.1 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Fryeburg, Maine that features a river and waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is best used from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. Located 17.5 miles away.
